The Directors of Century PR have advocated a policy of ‘putting something back’ into the communities in which they are based ever since the company’s launch as a PR consultancy 21 years ago.
The Clarkes regularly contribute to local charitable and worthwhile causes, including the following.
CenturyPR Coventry
The agency’s Chief Executive John Clarke OBE, as an original committee member and Vice Chair of the NSPCC Coventry Business Group, has helped to raise more than £1.75 million for the NSPCC’s Boole House child abuse centre project in Whitefriars Street, Coventry. This was opened in 1996 by the late Princess Margaret.
The Clarkes have organised an annual Garden Party at their home near Kenilworth, Warwickshire for the past 11 years raising more than £60,000 over the past two years of the event.

John Clarke was also the former Chairman of the Belgrade Theatre Development Trust (as well as a former Board Director of the Theatre) and with the help of his fellow trustees helped to raise £1.3 million for the theatre’s expansion project over a three year period from 2002-2005.
They were also instrumental in setting up the Friends of Caludon Park Group to improve one of Coventry’s parks which has deteriorated over the past 30 years. The Clarkes have also launched The Caludon Society and sponsored a book. This is currently being written on the history of the ruined 14th century Caludon Castle and the Manor of Caludon which is nearly 800 years old.
The historical project on the Manor of Caludon has led to the development of a close working relationship with Caludon Castle Business and Enterprise Specialist School. The school now wants to include the history of Caludon in its school curriculum for 2008.
An exhibition about the history of the Manor of Caludon and its ruined castle (the only surviving castle ruin in the city of Coventry) is due to take place later this year.
The book on the History of the Manor of Caludon is scheduled to be launched towards the end of 2008. The Patron of The Caludon Society, Lord Clifford of Chudleigh has been invited to be guest of honour.
